Abilene Couple Arrested in Connection with Infant’s Death at Lake Ft. Phantom Hill
In the early morning hours of Friday, September 13, 2024, Abilene Police Department Criminal Investigation Detectives arrested two individuals in connection with the death of an infant girl discovered at Lake Ft. Phantom Hill on the north side of Abilene, Texas.
A preliminary autopsy showed that the infant was between 6 months to 10.5 months old.
On Saturday, August 31st, just before 9 p.m., the infant was found at Lake Ft. Phantom near Sea Bee Park. It was deceased, and it was apparent that it had been there for some time.
Heather Rose Kennedy, 20, and her boyfriend Donald Schultz, 35, both of Abilene, were taken into custody. Schultz faces charges of Second Degree Felony Tampering with a Human Corpse and Third Degree Felony Failure to Comply with the Sex Offender Registry. He is being held on a $500,000 bond. Kennedy is charged with Second Degree Felony Tampering with a Human Corpse and is being held on a $350,000 bond.
The arrests followed an anonymous tip received through Abilene Crime Stoppers. The Abilene Police Department recognizes the contributions of Major Investigations and Street Crimes units in the ongoing investigation.
