Deadly Three-Car Collision on North Freeway Under Investigation in Harris County
A fatal three-car crash occurred on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at around 10:46 PM, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. The incident took place on the northbound service road at 14100 North Freeway.
The vehicles involved were identified as a 2015 Nissan Altima (Unit 1), a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox (Unit 2), and a 2019 Dodge Ram 2500 (Unit 3). The driver of Unit 1, whose identity was not disclosed at the time of the report, was traveling in the number four lane. Allison Laura Elizalde, 42 years old, was driving Unit 2, and Fernando Soto, 57 years old, was driving Unit 3.
The crash occurred when Unit 1 attempted an unsafe lane change and struck Unit 2 on the left back quarter of the vehicle. Subsequently, Unit 1 continued across lanes and collided with the right side of Unit 3. Unit 1 then lost control, veered off the road, and crashed into a tree, resulting in the vehicle catching fire.
Emergency medical personnel confirmed the driver of Unit 1’s fatality at 10:59 PM.
The investigation is ongoing.
