Fatal Houston Crash: Driver’s Medical Issue Suspected as Woman Pedestrian Killed
An accident occurred on Monday (February 12) at around 5:30 p.m. on West Houston Center Boulevard in Houston, prompting an investigation.
According to reports, a blue Toyota Sienna traveling northbound near 12800 West Houston Center Boulevard veered off the street for unknown reasons, striking a female pedestrian on the sidewalk. The vehicle then proceeded through a gas station parking lot, ultimately colliding with a concrete sign post.
The victim, identified as a 61-year-old female, was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.
The driver of the Toyota Sienna, a 59-year-old male, and his 57-year-old female passenger were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver did not exhibit signs of intoxication, but the passenger indicated that the driver may have experienced a medical issue prior to the crash.
The identity of the deceased victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences as the investigation into the incident continues.
