Houston Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Stabbing in Downtown
Houston Police have arrested Deric Adams, 48, in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man that occurred at 500 Fannin Street in Downtown Houston around 3:30 a.m. on January 15. Adams is charged with murder in the 174th State District Court.
The identity of the deceased male is awaiting verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Officers responded to a stabbing in-progress call on Fannin Street, discovering an unresponsive male with multiple stab wounds in the street. Despite paramedics’ efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported that an argument between the deceased male and another man escalated into a stabbing. Patrol officers initially detained the suspect, Deric Adams, who was later released after being questioned by homicide detectives. Following consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, the case was referred to a grand jury.
After a thorough grand jury review, a murder charge was filed. On Thursday, February 1, Deric Adams was arrested without incident and booked into the Harris County Jail.
