Motor Vehicle Crash Leads to Drug and Weapon Arrest in Harris County
Vecent Zavala

On December 11, 2023, deputies from Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to a motor vehicle crash in the 1700 block of Thornhollow Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered the at-fault driver, 27-year-old Vecent Zavala, asleep behind the wheel.

Upon waking Zavala, law enforcement officials identified a potentially more serious situation. A Constable Narcotics Canine alerted on the vehicle, indicating the possible presence of illegal narcotics. Subsequent investigation during the traffic stop revealed a stash of heroin, 192 ounces of promethazine syrup, and a loaded firearm in the vehicle.

In addition to the narcotics and weapon, deputies seized $2,455.00 in cash currency, believed to be proceeds from the sale of the confiscated substances. Zavala was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.

Zavala’s bond was subsequently set at $10,100.00 by the 230th District Court and County Court 11.
