Armed Altercation Between Brothers Leads to Shooting and Arrest in South Houston

On Tuesday night, November 28, 2023, Houston Police patrol officers responded to a shooting incident at 3501 Dreyfus Street around 11:30 p.m. The victim, a 68-year-old male, was shot during an altercation at his residence.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim had sustained a gunshot wound and was promptly transported to an area hospital by Houston Fire Department paramedics. The victim is reported to be in stable condition.

At the scene, a suspect identified as Gregory Lynn Richardson, 65, was detained. Richardson had suffered lacerations to his hand. Further investigation revealed that the dispute leading to the shooting began when the victim, upon returning home, noticed some of his leather coats were missing. Armed with a knife, he confronted his younger brother, Richardson.

During the heated argument, Richardson produced a firearm. In the course of the altercation, the victim cut Richardson with the knife, prompting Richardson to discharge his firearm, striking the victim once.

Gregory Lynn Richardson has been charged with aggravated assault of a family member.
