Odessa Police Apprehend Suspect After Stolen Vehicle Crash at 52nd and Tanglewood

On the evening of November 25, 2023, at approximately 8:44 pm, the Odessa Police Department (OPD) responded to a crash in the vicinity of 52nd and Tanglewood. The investigation revealed that a 30-year-old individual, identified as Xavier Diaz, had allegedly stolen a white Ford F-350 from the CVS parking lot.

Diaz reportedly proceeded to run red lights and drove into oncoming traffic before colliding with six vehicles at the Sky Mazda dealership located at 4040 E. 52nd St. Following the crash, Diaz fled the scene on foot. However, OPD later located him in the area of Esmond and Graves.

Based on the findings of the investigation, Diaz was arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, classified as a “State Jail Felony.” Additionally, he faces charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident, categorized as a “Misdemeanor B.” Diaz was subsequently transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries resulting from the incident.
