Illegal Gambling Investigation in Humble Leads to $8,000 Seizure, Criminal Charge

HUMBLE, Texas – An undercover investigation into a seemingly vacant commercial space in Humble led deputies to an illegal gambling operation, where investigators seized more than $8,000 and numerous gambling devices, according to Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office.
Detectives with the constable’s Criminal Investigations Division began investigating the establishment in the 6000 block of Upshaw Road after receiving tips about possible illegal gambling on Thursday, Oct. 1.
Although the location appeared from the outside to be an empty lease space, detectives noticed a full parking lot and significant foot traffic, the constable’s office said.
Investigators went undercover and reported confirming that illegal gambling was taking place inside.
Detectives then obtained a search warrant and returned to the establishment to conduct a search.
During the operation, investigators seized more than $8,000 in suspected gambling proceeds, numerous devices described by the constable’s office as illegal gambling machines and records that detectives said supported evidence of gambling activity.
Following the investigation, detectives filed a criminal charge against 38-year-old Vivian Alemao for operating a game room without a license or permit.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about suspected illegal gambling operations to contact Precinct 4 dispatch at 281-376-3472 or submit an anonymous tip through the agency’s Regulatory Enforcement Unit.
