Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on FM 529 in Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A motorcyclist was killed Monday after colliding with an SUV whose driver failed to yield while pulling out of a private driveway on FM 529, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened at approximately 5:01 p.m. Sept. 28 in the 18000 block of FM 529.
Investigators said Brayans Diaz Toledo was riding a Yamaha R6 motorcycle west in the No. 1 lane of FM 529.
At the same time, Julius Omwanghe was driving a Toyota RAV4 and was stopped in a private driveway at 18030 FM 529. Omwanghe was preparing to cross the westbound lanes and center turn lane before turning left to travel east.
According to the preliminary investigation, Omwanghe failed to yield the right of way as he pulled out of the driveway and crossed the westbound lanes.
The front of Toledo’s motorcycle struck the left side of the Toyota.
Emergency medical personnel transported Toledo to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.
Investigators said Omwanghe showed no signs of intoxication and cooperated with authorities. No charges were reported in the information released by the Sheriff’s Office.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the crash.
