Houston Police Seek Person of Interest in February 2026 Fatal Shooting at Vance Plaza Apartments

HOUSTON – Houston Police are searching for a 25-year-old man wanted for questioning in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at an apartment complex in the Eastex-Jensen area.

Jason Moses Guzman Jr., 25, has been identified as a person of interest in the investigation but has not been charged in the case, police said.

The shooting happened around 4:55 a.m. Feb. 11 at the Vance Plaza Apartments in the 7300 block of Jensen Drive.

Officers responding to the apartment complex found Michael Bradley Simmons, 33, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Witnesses told investigators that two Hispanic men approached the apartment and opened fire, striking Simmons before fleeing.

Police described the two gunmen as approximately 5 feet, 1 inch and 5 feet, 8 inches tall. They were armed with handguns and a rifle. One was described as a larger man wearing a black hoodie.

The two fled in a small blue vehicle of an unknown make and model that was last seen traveling south on Jensen Drive, according to police.

Investigators later identified Guzman as a person of interest and said homicide detectives want to speak with him. Police have not disclosed what led them to identify him as a person of interest.
