Harris County Deputies Investigating Workplace Death After Worker Falls 30 Feet Into Septic Well

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas. Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 46-year-old worker after he fell approximately 30 feet into a septic well station during an altercation with a co-worker Monday morning in east Harris County.
Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 7:40 a.m. on July 13 to an industrial work site in the 11100 block of Garden Tree Drive in the Sheldon area following a report of a possible accidental injury.
When deputies arrived, they discovered the victim had fallen into an underground septic well station. Investigators are working to determine whether the victim fell or was pushed during a physical confrontation with a co-worker.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Fire department personnel recovered the victim’s body, which was released to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to conduct the investigation.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, detectives presented the known facts of the case to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. After reviewing the evidence, prosecutors advised that the case will be presented to a Harris County grand jury for consideration.
The investigation remains ongoing.
