Houston Police Investigating Apparent Murder-Suicide at Astrodome Area Hotel

HOUSTON, Texas — Houston police are investigating the deaths of two children and a woman after they were found with gunshot wounds inside a hotel room in what investigators believe was an apparent murder-suicide.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Friday, July 3, to the Residence Inn Marriott in the 7800 block of Kirby Drive after hotel staff requested a welfare check.
Investigators said employees became concerned after noticing the family had remained in the same room since Wednesday without any activity. When staff checked on the room shortly before noon, they discovered a 40-year-old woman and two juvenile children deceased inside.
HPD officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the room and confirmed all three had died from apparent gunshot wounds.
The preliminary investigation indicates the woman fatally shot the two children before taking her own life.
Detectives believe the deaths occurred sometime before Friday and are investigating the case as an apparent murder-suicide.
Police also said the incident appears to involve mental health issues, though the investigation remains ongoing.
The identities of the woman and the two children are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact the Houston Police Department Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
