HOUSTON, Texas — A 19-year-old woman has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man during an apparent robbery in north Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

On May 22, 2026, Harris County Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 22900 block of Imperial Valley Drive in the North Park Forest area near Westfield.

When deputies arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot. The victim, later identified as 21-year-old Devonta Martin, was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, detectives determined Martin was allegedly shot by two suspects and that robbery was believed to be the motive behind the attack.

As the investigation progressed, detectives identified 19-year-old Alajai Scott as a suspect in the case.

On June 9, 2026, members of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Violent Criminals Apprehension Team, working alongside the Texas Department of Public Safety, arrested Scott.

Homicide detectives subsequently charged Scott with murder for her alleged role in Martin’s death. She was booked into the Harris County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released information regarding the second suspected shooter.
