El Paso Man Arrested in Downtown Aggravated Robbery Investigation

EL PASO, Texas – The El Paso Police Department arrested a 57-year-old man in connection with a robbery investigation stemming from an incident earlier this month in Central El Paso.
According to investigators, officers responded May 6 to a business in the 900 block of South Stanton Street after receiving reports of a robbery in progress.
Police said the suspect, identified as Rodolfo Madrid Torres, entered the business, assaulted the owner, and demanded money.
Authorities said the business owner managed to break free during the confrontation and locked Torres inside the business. However, by the time officers arrived, investigators determined the suspect had already escaped from the building and fled the area.
Detectives later learned the suspect stole cash and the owner’s wallet during the robbery.
Through the investigation, officers identified Torres as the suspect. He was arrested May 19 and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
Torres, a resident of Central El Paso, was charged with aggravated robbery.
