Man Shot Outside Baytown Nursing Home; Suspect Captured After Interstate Pursuit

BAYTOWN, Texas — A man was wounded in a shooting outside a Baytown nursing home Tuesday afternoon before the suspected gunman was captured following a pursuit into Chambers County, authorities said.
Officers with the Baytown Police Department responded around 2 p.m. on May 19, 2026, to a reported shooting at a nursing home in the 4100 block of Allenbrook Drive.
Preliminary information indicates a woman was standing outside speaking with a male acquaintance seated inside a vehicle when another male acquaintance allegedly drove by and opened fire.
Investigators said multiple rounds were fired, striking the male victim in the leg area before the suspect fled the scene.
Authorities said the victim ran inside the nursing home after the shooting and was later transported to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
The female involved was not injured, and no additional injuries were reported.
Detectives with Baytown Police responded to process the scene and continue the investigation.
Officials said officers with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety later located the suspect vehicle in Chambers County, leading to a pursuit along Interstate 10.
The chase ended after the suspect crashed into a ditch and was taken into custody without further incident.
