Teen Arrested After Pursuit in Stolen Vehicle in North Houston
James King

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — An 18-year-old was arrested after leading deputies on a short pursuit in a stolen vehicle before being captured with the help of a K-9 unit, according to Constable Mark Herman’s Office.

A corporal initiated a traffic stop April 29 near the 1000 block of North Forest Boulevard, but the driver refused to stop and fled, prompting a brief pursuit. Authorities said the vehicle struck a curb and became disabled, and the driver exited and ran.

Deputies pursued the suspect on foot and, with assistance from a canine unit, took him into custody a short time later. He was identified as James King.

Investigators later determined the vehicle had been recently reported stolen.

King was booked into the Harris County Jail and charged with evading arrest in a motor vehicle. His bond was set at $15,000 by the 262nd District Court.

“I commend our deputy for their swift, professional response,” said Mark Herman. “Their actions removed a stolen vehicle from our streets and ensured the suspect was taken into custody without further harm to the public.”

Officials said the investigation remains ongoing.
