HOUSTON, TX — A convicted felon wearing an ankle monitor for a pending felony case was arrested Friday, February 5, after deputies discovered fentanyl and methamphetamine during a traffic stop at the Houston Premium Outlet Mall.

A sergeant with Harris County Constable Mark Herman’s Office conducted the stop at the shopping center located at 29300 Northwest Freeway. During the investigation, deputies identified the driver as 40-year-old Steven Savarino, who had an active felony warrant out of Montgomery County.

Savarino was taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a zip-lock bag containing crushed fentanyl and a prescription bottle containing methamphetamine. Authorities said Savarino admitted the substances were fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Deputies also confirmed Savarino was wearing an ankle monitor related to a pending felony theft charge in Harris County.

Savarino was booked into the Harris County Jail and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was also arrested on the outstanding felony warrant from Montgomery County. Bond on the Montgomery County warrant was set at $3,000 by the 497th District Court. Bond and court information for the Harris County charge have not yet been set.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are pending.
