Man Found Shot to Death in Spring Home After Leaving to Meet Someone, HCSO Says

SPRING, TX – Harris County Sheriff’s Office homicide investigators are working to determine what led to the death of a man found with a gunshot wound inside a Spring home early Saturday morning.

Just after midnight on December 26, deputies responded to a 911 call in the 17300 block of Edsall Drive. A man reported finding his stepson unresponsive in his bedroom. Deputies and EMS arrived and attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. He had suffered at least one gunshot wound to the head.

According to investigators, the victim had left the home on foot shortly before the shooting to meet someone outside. Minutes later, he returned to the residence, possibly accompanied by one or two unknown individuals. The victim’s sister told deputies she heard at least one gunshot coming from her brother’s upstairs bedroom. She later went to check on him and discovered he had been shot.

Detectives interviewed family members, neighbors, and other potential witnesses and canvassed the surrounding area for surveillance video. Crime Scene Investigators processed the home and collected evidence related to the shooting.

At this time, investigators have not determined how the victim was shot or whether the incident was accidental, intentional, self-inflicted, or involved another person. The victim’s body has been transported for an autopsy, which will determine the official cause and manner of death.

The case remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office at 713-221-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
