Bellaire Police Patrol Unit Hit by Sedan That Ran Red Light; Driver Arrested for DWI

A Bellaire Police Department patrol vehicle was involved in a major crash with a speeding sedan early Wednesday morning, November 26, 2025. The collision happened around 1:13 a.m. near Hillcroft Avenue and Willowbend Boulevard.

According to investigators, officers were in the area searching for a suspect vehicle tied to a Bellaire criminal investigation that began the previous day. Dash camera video shows a sedan, which was not connected to that investigation, running a red light at a high speed before striking the patrol unit.

Both the Bellaire officer and the sedan’s driver were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital. The officer received stitches and was later released. The sedan’s driver showed obvious signs of intoxication at the scene and is now in custody for driving while intoxicated.

The incident remains under investigation.
