Two Arrested After Dallas-Area ATM Theft; Captured in Montgomery County

Montgomery County, TX – Two men were taken into custody Friday after a coordinated effort between multiple law enforcement agencies led to the interception of a vehicle tied to a felony ATM burglary in the Dallas area.
Early on November 14, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) was contacted by the Dallas Police Department’s CRU regarding an ATM theft that occurred that morning. Investigators believed the suspects were traveling south on Interstate 45 toward the Houston area.
Working with the Huntsville Police Department, officers located the suspect vehicle along I-45. Huntsville police initiated a traffic stop, leading to the arrest of both occupants, identified as David Hill, 33, and Jerry Gray, 38.
Both men are facing felony charges in Walker County. Evidence gathered at the scene, along with interviews conducted roadside, also provided Dallas police with what they need to pursue additional charges connected to the ATM burglary. Gray is already known to the Montgomery County CRU for his involvement in bank jugging cases. Both suspects have extensive criminal histories, including aggravated robbery, money laundering, and multiple theft-related offenses.
Deputies recovered $14,466 from the suspects and the vehicle.
The sheriff’s office credited the arrests to strong interagency cooperation. Sheriff Doolittle noted that working closely with local, state, and federal partners is essential for stopping criminals who move between jurisdictions and for keeping Montgomery County communities safe.
