Sealy High School Teacher Arrested for Alleged Child Grooming

Sealy, TX – On November 1, 2025, the Sealy ISD Police Department referred a case involving an alleged improper relationship between a teacher and a student to the Sealy Police Department, as required under Senate Bill 571, which mandates that schools report such cases to an outside law enforcement agency.

After investigating and consulting with the Austin County District Attorney’s Office, Sealy Police obtained an arrest warrant for 63-year-old Juan Gerardo Perez. He was taken into custody and booked into the Austin County Jail on a charge of Child Grooming, a third-degree felony under Texas law. Perez is awaiting arraignment.

According to school and public records, Perez taught Spanish, ESOL, and Drive Time at Sealy High School. His staff profile described him as being originally from San Luis Potosí, Mexico, and a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). His LinkedIn profile indicates he had been employed by Sealy ISD since August 2007.
