Houston Man Arrested in Father’s Death on Galveston Road

Houston police have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a man at 2417 Galveston Road at approximately 2:50 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23.

The suspect, 30-year-old Shon Rudy Perez, has been charged with murder in the 263rd Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Perez has been released by HPD.

The deceased, a 59-year-old male, has not yet been publicly identified, as the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is in the process of notifying next of kin.

According to HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. LaFour and Detective A. Hernandez, patrol officers responded to a welfare check at the residence. Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive male inside the home. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Following their investigation, officers identified the victim’s son, Shon Rudy Perez, as a suspect. With assistance from Harris County Precinct 6 deputies, Perez was taken into custody without incident. During an interview with investigators, Perez admitted to a physical altercation with his father that resulted in injury to the victim’s head.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted, and Perez was formally charged with murder. He is currently booked into the Harris County Jail awaiting further court proceedings.
