DWI Crash on North Freeway Causes Major Damage to County Property

On July 16, 2025, deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to a major single-vehicle crash in the 20100 block of the North Freeway.

The driver, identified as 37-year-old Garett Thomas, showed multiple signs of intoxication at the scene. A blood warrant was obtained, and investigators determined that extensive damage had been done to county property, including a guardrail. TXDOT was notified of the damages.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted charges for Driving While Intoxicated. Thomas was booked into the Harris County Jail with bond set at $100.00 out of County Court 1.

“Our deputies remain committed to holding impaired drivers accountable, especially when their actions put the public and public property at risk,” said Constable Mark Herman.
