Undercover Investigation Leads to Gambling Operation Bust in Northwest Houston

Detectives with Constable Mark Herman’s Criminal Investigations Division shut down an illegal gambling operation located in the 4444 FM 1960 Rd W. area of Houston in Harris County, Texas, following an undercover investigation.
Acting on received tips, an undercover investigation confirmed illegal gambling activities were taking place at the establishment. Subsequently, investigators obtained and executed a search warrant for the premises.
During the operation, law enforcement seized approximately $13,000.00 in suspected gambling proceeds, numerous illegal gambling devices, and documentation supporting the illicit activities. As a result, criminal charges were filed against a business employee, Vivian Chagoya, for Possession of a Gambling Device/Equipment/Paraphernalia. Authorities also noted the presence of multiple individuals engaging in illegal gambling at the location.
Constable Mark Herman emphasized the dangers associated with illegal gambling establishments, stating, “Illegal gambling establishments attract a wide variety of criminal activity that puts our community’s safety at risk. Constable Herman wants the public to know these illegal gambling establishments operate contrary to the Peace and Dignity of the State of Texas. The proceeds from these establishments are used to fund very serious criminal enterprises.”
