Harris County Man Arrested for Using Child as Shield During Taser Deployment

A 42-year-old man from Harris County, Texas, was arrested on Friday after allegedly using his 13-year-old child as a shield when deputies attempted to tase him during a family violence incident.
Deputies from the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 responded to a disturbance call in the 10900 block of Mist Lane. Upon arrival, they encountered Anthony Kelly, 42, attempting to slam the door shut on them. Deputies discovered that Kelly had outstanding felony warrants related to continued family violence.
After gaining entry to the residence, deputies reported that Kelly refused to comply with their verbal instructions and began to resist. In response, deputies deployed a taser in an attempt to subdue him. At this point, Kelly allegedly grabbed his 13-year-old child and pulled the child in front of him as the taser was used.
Fortunately, the child was unharmed during the incident. Kelly was taken into custody and booked into the Harris County Jail. He is facing a charge of child endangerment in addition to the existing felony warrants for continued family violence. His bond for the felony warrants is set at $12,000, while no bond has yet been established for the child endangerment charge. Child Protective Services has been notified of the incident.
