Elderly Man Arrested for Murder After Fatality Accident in League City

League City Police Officers have arrested 78-year-old Ted Cassell of Burton, Texas, and charged him with Murder. He is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.
On Saturday, May 10, 2025, at approximately 4:51 p.m., the League City Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 1900 block of Cove Park Dr. Upon arrival, officers and League City Fire Department personnel administered life-saving measures to the 72-year-old male victim.
Witnesses at the scene reported that the vehicle involved, a white Ford F-150, remained at the location with the driver inside. The driver, later identified as Ted Cassell, was safely detained without further incident.
The victim was transported to a local hospital but later died from his injuries. A preliminary investigation indicates that the incident occurred after a verbal altercation between Cassell and several residents of Glen Cove, including the victim.
The League City Police Department’s Crash Team, Detectives, and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene and are continuing their thorough investigation. Cassell was taken into custody at approximately 8:57 p.m.
