Houston Parents Arrested in Death of 2-Month-Old Son from 2024

JaMari Mari Bailey, 21, and Marybeth Clarisa Rodriguez, 22, have been arrested and charged with injury to a child – serious bodily injury in connection with the death of their two-month-old son in June 2024.  

On June 16, 2024, Bailey and Rodriguez took their infant son to an urgent care center because he appeared ill. Due to the severity of his condition, the baby was transferred to Texas Children’s Hospital. Tragically, the two-month-old boy died on June 23, 2024.  

Further investigation by the HPD Homicide Division revealed that the baby had suffered extensive injuries and trauma. Following consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, charges were filed against Rodriguez and Bailey. Both were arrested without incident on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, and booked into the Harris County Jail.
