Teen Charged in Fatal Shooting on Cook Road

A 17-year-old suspect, Fernando Amaya, has been charged with murder, aggravated assault of a family member, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following a fatal shooting in southwest Houston.

The incident occurred around 12:55 a.m. on March 18 at an apartment complex on Cook Road. Houston police discovered one man dead from gunshot wounds and another injured, who was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators identified Amaya as a suspect, and he was arrested at a family member’s home later that morning. Authorities believe Amaya and a second unidentified suspect fled the scene in a white full-size SUV. The second suspect remains at large.
