62-Year-Old Woman Arrested After Assaulting Deputy During Solicitation Investigation
HOUSTON, Texas – A Harris County deputy was injured Monday after attempting to detain a woman during a solicitation investigation.
On March 16, 2026, a deputy with Constable Mark Herman’s Office observed a woman allegedly soliciting in the roadway in the 12000 block of Veterans Memorial Drive while also smoking marijuana.
During the investigation, the deputy attempted to detain the suspect, identified as 62-year-old Julie Ruonavarra.
Authorities said Ruonavarra resisted detention and became combative, resulting in injuries to the deputy.
Ruonavarra was taken into custody and booked into the Harris County Jail on a charge of assault on a public servant.
Her bond and court information have not yet been set.
