21-Year-Old Arrested for Murder in Death of Houston Man Found on Leona Street

Enrique Malaquias Bonilla, 21, has been arrested and charged with murder following the death of 23-year-old Sostenos Briones, whose body was found at an apartment complex located at 1550 Leona Street near Downtown Houston on September 26, 2024.

Houston Police Department (HPD) officers responded to a report of a deceased person around 6:50 p.m. that evening. Upon arriving, paramedics from the Houston Fire Department confirmed they had found Briones in a breezeway between the parking garage and an apartment building, suffering from blunt force trauma to his torso.

Detectives with the HPD Homicide Division investigated the incident and identified Bonilla as the suspect. On November 7, 2024, officers from the Central Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team arrested Bonilla, who admitted to his involvement in Briones’ death.

Bonilla is currently being held on murder charges in the 185th State District Court.
