19-Year-Old Man Shot Outside Camaro on Katy Freeway Service Road

On Friday, September 28, 2024, at approximately 8:05 PM, deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to an in-progress call in the 23600 block of the westbound Katy Freeway service road. Upon arrival, they discovered an unresponsive adult male, identified as 19-year-old Cody Walker Johnson, outside his parked black Camaro with gold rims, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Johnson was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital Medical Center but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The HCSO Homicide and Crime Scene Units are investigating, gathering surveillance footage from nearby businesses and roads in the busy area near Katy Freeway and State Highway 99. No motive has been determined.
