Man Charged with Capital Murder in January Deadly Apartment Complex Robbery

William Emmanuel Martinez-Landaverde, 21, has been charged with capital murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Jason Perez at an apartment complex on January 31, 2025.

Houston Police Department (HPD) patrol officers responded to a shooting at 7100 Renwick Drive at approximately 11:55 p.m. and found Perez unresponsive with gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicated that Perez was shot by two unknown male suspects during a robbery. The suspects, described as Hispanic males wearing black hoodies and blue jeans, fled in a gray or silver sedan.

Further investigation identified Martinez-Landaverde as a suspect. He was arrested on unrelated charges on February 3, 2025. Following consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Martinez-Landaverde was charged with capital murder on February 19, 2025.
