Man Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Woman on Eastex Freeway Service Road

Romeo Deshawn Senegal, 26, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old woman at 17607 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) service road around 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 25.

Houston Police Department officers responded to a shooting call at the location and discovered an unresponsive woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Investigators determined that the shooting stemmed from an argument, and Senegal was identified as the suspect. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case, and a murder charge was filed in the 496th State District Court.

Senegal was arrested on Sunday, January 26, without incident and booked into the Harris County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
