Houston Man Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Pursuit in Chambers County

A Houston man was arrested after leading law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit in a stolen vehicle on Thursday, January 16, 2025.

At approximately 1:19 p.m., deputies with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle theft in the 8800 block of North State Highway 146 in Baytown. Deputies quickly located the stolen vehicle along I-10 eastbound at the 803-mile marker and initiated a pursuit with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

After two attempts, deputies successfully deployed spike strips at the 814-mile marker, bringing the pursuit to an end. The driver, identified as Jorge Emiliano Mata Olmos, was taken into custody.

Olmos faces charges of theft of property valued between $2,500 and $30,000 and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle.
