Rare Stolen Steve McQueen Tribute Jaguar XKSS Recovered in North Austin

A rare Steve McQueen Tribute Jaguar XKSS has been successfully recovered by the West Lake Hills Police Department following an extensive investigation into its theft, first reported on December 2, 2024.

The vehicle’s disappearance gained widespread attention on social media and in automotive publications, generating multiple leads. On January 27, an officer following up on one of those leads conducted an interview that provided critical information for detectives. This led to further investigation, and by the following day, authorities had gathered enough evidence to secure a search warrant.

On the afternoon of January 28, officers from West Lake Hills PD, working alongside the Austin Police Department, executed the warrant at a storage facility in North Austin. Inside, they located the stolen Jaguar along with additional stolen property valued at over $625,000.

The recovery was the result of collaboration between multiple agencies, including the Travis County Sheriff’s Office and Pflugerville Police Department.

The vehicle’s owner, Matthew Briggs, expressed his gratitude:
“I am incredibly grateful to all the officers and detectives that worked on my case. Their attention and dedication to finding my car was impressive and truly appreciated.”

Authorities urge anyone with further information on the case or other suspicious activity to contact the West Lake Hills PD at 512-327-1195.
