League City Man Charged with Murder After Fatal Stabbing

On January 24, 2025, at approximately 2:27 a.m., League City Police responded to a reported disturbance at a residence in the 2800 block of Brookmist Lane. Upon arrival, officers were directed by residents to a bedroom where a conflict had occurred between two men.

Inside the room, officers discovered a 33-year-old male victim who had suffered apparent stab wounds. League City Fire Department EMS personnel confirmed the victim was deceased shortly after their arrival.

Officers detained 41-year-old Rigoberto Argueta-Sontay of League City at the scene. Following an initial investigation, Argueta-Sontay was arrested and charged with Murder. The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office accepted the charge, setting bond at $250,000.
