Man Killed in Shooting Following Gunfire Exchange on Thrasher Lane in Austin

Austin Police Department (APD) officers are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Friday, December 13, 2024, in the 500 block of Thrasher Lane.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 3:53 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered 45-year-old Erik Tijerina lying unresponsive in the front yard of a residence with apparent gunshot wounds.

Tijerina was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased on Sunday, December 15, at 2:50 p.m.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists processed the scene and interviewed witnesses. The preliminary investigation revealed that multiple individuals exchanged gunfire, striking Tijerina, who was in the front yard at the time.

The investigation remains ongoing.
