El Paso Pedestrian Killed in Loop 375 Collision Involving Two Vehicles
On December 13, 2024, at 5:29 a.m., Special Traffic Investigations responded to a fatal collision involving a pedestrian at Loop 375 South, Mile Marker 40.5, near New World.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 2007 Chevy Silverado, driven by 39-year-old Arturo Salazar-Soto of El Paso, struck a pedestrian who was crossing Loop 375. Following the initial impact, the pedestrian was struck again by an 18-wheeler, which did not remain at the scene.
The pedestrian succumbed to injuries sustained in the collisions. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
Investigators determined that the pedestrian being on the freeway was the primary factor in the incident. No charges have been filed at this time.
This marks the 67th traffic fatality in El Paso for 2024, compared to 75 at the same time in 2023. The investigation is ongoing.
