Teen Driver Killed in Multi-Vehicle Collision on Barker Cypress Road in Houston

On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at approximately 6:19 p.m., a fatal collision occurred on Barker Cypress Road near the intersection of Gummert Road involving three vehicles.

A juvenile male was driving a southbound Infiniti Q50 at high speed in the number 1 lane of the 5800 block of Barker Cypress Road in northwest Houston. At the same time, Randu Salgado, driving a GMC Sierra northbound in the left-turn lane of the 5700 block, attempted to make a left turn onto Gummert Road on a flashing yellow arrow. Ariana Rios was behind Salgado in a northbound Kia Forte in the same lane.

As Salgado turned left, he failed to yield the right of way, resulting in the Infiniti colliding with the front-right quarter of the GMC. The impact caused the GMC to rotate counter-clockwise, roll onto its side, strike a raised concrete curb, and roll back onto its tires before coming to a stop facing north.

The Infiniti also rotated counter-clockwise after the collision, eventually coming to an uncontrolled stop facing north. Debris from the crash struck Rios’ Kia Forte, causing damage to the vehicle’s front left and right sides.

The juvenile driver of the Infiniti was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased due to injuries sustained in the crash.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is actively investigating the incident.
