Two Suspects Arrested After Fleeing From Officers in West University Place

At approximately 2:34 p.m. on November 30, 2024, officers from the West University Place Police Department (WUPD) responded to a broadcast from the Southside Place Police Department (SSPPD) regarding a suspicious activity incident. The report detailed two individuals observed trespassing in the backyard of a residence in Southside Place.

Shortly after, a WUPD officer spotted two individuals matching the description provided walking in the 3800 block of University Blvd. When the officers attempted to make contact, the individuals fled the scene, running into the backyard of a residence on University Blvd. The male suspect, later identified as Judon Darnell Collins, was detained without incident, while the female suspect jumped a fence into a nearby residence on Swarthmore Street.

With assistance from the Southside Place PD, a thorough search was conducted, and the female suspect, identified as Mary Crane, was located and taken into custody in the 3700 block of Bellaire Blvd.

Both Collins and Crane have been charged with Evading Arrest/Detention. During questioning, one of the suspects admitted to officers that they were in the area with the intent to commit theft.

Judon Collins’ criminal history in Harris County includes charges for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance (three times), Theft (four times), Criminal Mischief, Resisting Arrest, Assault (twice), and Escape.

Mary Crane’s criminal history includes charges for Unauthorized Absence from a Community Corrections Facility, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Trespass, Burglary of a Vehicle, Evading Arrest or Detention, and Theft.
