Austin Police Detectives Search for a Man Suspected of Inappropriate Sexual Contact of a Child
On April 2, 2023, around 10:15 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a report of inappropriate sexual contact with a child at the Sophia Apartments at 2201 Willow Creek Drive.
Detectives reviewed surveillance video of the crime. The preliminary investigation revealed that the child was returning to her apartment from the pool area when a Hispanic man approached. The surveillance video shows the suspect grabbing the child and holding her close to his body. A few residents confronted the suspect about the assault and told him to leave the area. He was last seen leaving the apartment complex on foot.
Detectives interviewed the victim, and she confirmed that the suspect touched her in a sexual manner.
The suspect is described as:
- Hispanic male
- Heavy set
- 30 to 40 years old
- 5’5” to 5’7” tall
- Black hair with some facial hair
- It’s reported that the suspect speaks Spanish
- He was last seen wearing a short-sleeve, red shirt, dark gray or green shorts, and yellow and purple shoes.
