Two Suspects Plead in 2022 Amarillo Double Shooting Case, One Sentenced to Life

On September 23, 2022, Amarillo Police responded to a double shooting at the intersection of NW 3rd and Independence, where two women were shot. One of the victims later died at Northwest Texas Healthcare (NWTH) due to her injuries.

Through an investigation led by the Homicide Unit, Adrian Ulloa, 21, and Matthew Brewer, 20, were identified as suspects. The case was presented to the Potter County Grand Jury on November 16, 2022, which returned indictments for Capital Murder against both men.

Thanks to extensive work by Homicide investigators and the Crime Scene Unit, Ulloa and Brewer pled guilty to charges related to the death of the victim, Messer. On November 12, 2024, Ulloa pled guilty to Life in Prison, while Brewer pled guilty to 22 years in TDCJ-ID for Murder on November 13, 2024.
