Man Fatally Shot in Garage as Children Remain Inside Home; Suspect Seen in Halloween Mask
Early Friday morning, November 1, 2024, at approximately 12:00 a.m., Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Investigators were called to a residence on Hawks Nest Drive in north Harris County following the fatal shooting of an adult male. Late Thursday night, deputies from Harris County Precinct 4, along with EMS, responded to a 911 call reporting a man had been shot. A family member inside the home informed dispatchers that her father had been shot in the garage.
Upon arrival, deputies found the victim lying unresponsive in the garage with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts by EMS, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Two juvenile children were found unharmed inside the home, but the suspect had fled prior to law enforcement’s arrival. According to investigators, a possible suspect was seen in the area wearing a Halloween-themed “Michael Myers” mask, and multiple neighbors reported hearing gunshots.
Homicide investigators reviewed security footage from neighboring homes and collected evidence alongside Crime Scene units. The identity of the shooter and the motive remain under investigation. During the course of the investigation, detectives noted that the victim’s estranged wife, who was also the mother of the children, had been murdered in August 2024. Following the incident, the children were placed in the care of their grandmother.
