17-Year-Old Found Fatally Shot at North Harris County Apartment Complex; Robbery Suspected

On Sunday, November 3, 2024, at around 9:30 p.m., deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to an active call at an apartment complex in the 14000 block of TC Jester in north Harris County. Upon arrival, deputies found 17-year-old Adolphus McKenzie unresponsive from a gunshot wound. Emergency personnel administered life-saving measures, but McKenzie was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing a vehicle speed away immediately afterward, though no specific description of the suspect or vehicle was available. While deputies were on the scene, they learned of a man with a gunshot wound being treated at a nearby urgent care facility; the individual was detained pending further investigation.

HCSO Homicide and Crime Scene Units arrived shortly after to continue the investigation. Based on initial findings, detectives consulted with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, which advised that the case be presented to a grand jury. Robbery is being considered a potential motive in the shooting.
