League City Man Charged with Attempted Murder-Suicide in Domestic Incident Involving Wife

League City Police Officers have arrested 62-year-old Charles McCoy, Jr. and charged him with Murder, with a bond set at $150,000.

On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at approximately 10:39 a.m., the League City Police Department received a request for assistance from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office regarding a Writ of Possession for a residence located in the 100 block of Crescent Bay Drive. A GCSO Deputy Investigator sought help in evicting Charles and his 62-year-old wife, Susan McCoy, from the home.

Upon arrival, officers attempted to contact the occupants at the front door but received no response. After entering the residence, officers discovered Susan on the floor of the master bedroom with apparent fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene by personnel from the League City Fire Department.

Charles was also found on the floor of the master bedroom with apparent self-inflicted injuries but was still alive. Officers provided first aid until LCFD personnel arrived and transported him to a local hospital.

Following the incident, LCPD Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit conducted a thorough investigation. The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office accepted the charge of Murder against Charles, leading to his subsequent arrest.
