Body of Missing 80-Year-Old Found in Vehicle Recovered from Water in Port Arthur

On September 16, 2024, the Beaumont Police Department issued a Critical Missing alert for Robert Quinn, an 80-year-old man with dementia. Quinn was last seen driving a 2019 black Jaguar.

Last night around 8:30 p.m., the Port Arthur Police Department received a report of a vehicle entering the water in the 100 block of Woodworth Blvd. Investigating officers discovered the license plate of Quinn’s car. Due to the swift current and tide, the vehicle quickly drifted and sank, making recovery efforts challenging.

Rescue operations resumed early this morning, with divers from the Port Arthur Fire Department, JCSO Marine Unit, U.S. Coast Guard, and Texas Game Wardens participating.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. today, Quinn’s car was recovered from the water, and he was found deceased inside the vehicle.

“We appreciate the assistance from all of the agencies who participated in the recovery and offer our deepest condolences to the family,” stated the Port Arthur Police Department.
