League City Police Arrest Four Suspects in Connection with July 5 Shootings

League City Police Detectives from the Community Impact Unit, supported by LCPD SWAT, the Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force, the Texas City Police Department Crime Suppression Unit, and the La Marque Police Department, have arrested four individuals in connection with two shootings that occurred on July 5, 2024.

The arrested suspects are Demarion Bell, 19, and Wequavious Colbert, 18, both of Dickinson, and Embassy McCoy, 19, and Micah Bernard, 19, both of Texas City. Each suspect faces charges including four counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (with a $400,000 bond each), Aggravated Assault Mass Shooting (with a $100,000 bond each), and Deadly Conduct Discharge Firearm (with a $100,000 bond each).

The incidents occurred within minutes of each other on the morning of July 5, 2024, in the 200 block of Diamond Bay Dr and the 2700 block of S IH 45 northbound main lanes, shortly after 12:45 a.m.

Following a comprehensive investigation, League City detectives obtained charges against the suspects. On August 2, 2024, a coordinated operation led to the suspects’ arrests. They were taken into custody safely within 20 minutes from three separate locations in Texas City.
