Mont Belvieu Teen in Mental Health Crisis Detained After Brandishing BB-gun Replica
On Sunday evening at 6:58 PM, the Mont Belvieu Police Department (MBPD) received multiple calls from concerned residents in the Cherry Point neighborhood regarding a male individual near the park. Reports indicated that the individual was armed with a handgun and was actively pointing it at several passers-by.
Promptly responding to the calls, MBPD units arrived at the scene and swiftly located the individual. The officers successfully disarmed and detained the suspect. Upon further inspection, it was determined that the firearm in question was a BB-gun replica, closely resembling a real semi-automatic pistol.
The suspect, identified as a 16-year-old male, was taken into custody by authorities. As a precautionary measure, he is being transported for mental health evaluation this evening. The investigation into the case is currently ongoing.
