Fatal Shooting Erupts in North Austin Game Room Dispute: Two Lives Lost

On Sunday, January 7, 2024, at around 4:46 a.m., the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to reports of a shooting at the Cowboys Game Room, 9411 Parkfield Drive in North Austin. Multiple callers informed the police that several individuals had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers discovered two unresponsive males with apparent gunshot wounds, identified as 35-year-old Deondre Flint and 46-year-old Jamie Davis.

Both Flint and Davis succumbed to their injuries shortly afterward. A third person sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists were deployed to process the scene. The investigation revealed that a dispute had arisen when Jamie Davis and his girlfriend were asked to leave the game room.

As they exited, a physical altercation erupted between Davis’ girlfriend and a female employee of the game room. The confrontation escalated into gunfire between Davis and the security personnel, including Deondre Flint, in the parking lot. Davis shot Flint, leading to his death, while another security employee shot Davis. The latter security employee has cooperated fully with the ongoing investigation.

The Travis County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and determined that the shooting by the security employee was justified. Consequently, no charges have been filed, and none are anticipated at this time.
