Austin 21-year-old Male Dies in Fatal Crash on Loop 360

On Thursday, December 7, 2023, at around 12:40 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 2400 block of South Capital of Texas Highway. The incident marked Austin’s 83rd fatal crash of the year, resulting in the 86th fatality.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found that one of the passengers, identified as 21-year-old Byron Gutierrez-Rodriguez, had lost his life in the crash. The driver and another passenger were examined by the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Service (ATCEMS), but both declined transportation to a hospital.

This marks a decrease compared to the same date in 2022 when 104 fatal crashes occurred, resulting in 108 deaths.
